Gastroenteritis

An inflammation of the lining of the bowel, often caused from an infection

Gastroenterologist

A medical doctor that specializes in the treatment of the stomach and intestines

Gastroesophageal reflux
(GER or reflux)

The backward flow of the stomach contents into the esophagus (food pipe)

Gastrointestinal (GI) tract

The esophagus, stomach and intestines

Gastrostomy tube/button
(G-tube)

A feeding tube or button inserted directly into the stomach through the abdomen

Gavage tube (feeding tube)

A narrow, pliable tube inserted into a babys mouth or nose and leading to the stomach

Gestational age

The number of weeks between the first day of the last menstrual period and the date of birth
