Toy block

Pale

The skin lacks pink color, looking whitish or gray

Pediatrician

Periodic breathing

Breathing that is interrupted by 10 to 20 second pauses

Periventricular leukomalacia
(PVL)

Damaged brain tissue surrounding the ventricles that may result in brain cysts

A healthcare professional who specializes in helping a child learn better ways to coordinate movements and balance

Posture

The positioning of the structure of the body

Premature baby

Used to describe a baby born at less than 35 weeks gestation

Prone

Lying on the stomach

Pulmonologist

A medical doctor specializing in the structure and function of the lungs; diagnoses and treats breathing problems

Pulse oximeter (pulse ox)

A non-invasive device that monitors the oxygen saturation of a babys blood
